The little...

Cité des arts ariégeoise

The view is breathtaking, and I can’t get enough of it. The Pyrenees are revealed in the background, and you gradually overlook the colorful Arize-Lèze valleys. The landscapes change color with the seasons like a palette of paints.

Whichever route you take, it will lead you to the foot of the imposing ramparts. Carla-Bayle is a village perched between two valleys, and the views are breathtaking. From one end of the ramparts to the other, it’s awe-inspiring. …

The village

Cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses, colorful facades, panoramic views, sculptures – there’s a surprise around every corner. Whether you’re an art lover or simply curious, push open the doors of the galleries and enter the world of the artists. Observe, share and imagine. From one season to the next, everything is different, but at the same time so familiar.

Behold...

A unique church

When I enter the village church, I observe the face of the person accompanying me. Every time, the same expressions: astonishment, wonder, surprise… The cause? A giant, bluish, oriental fresco, a veritable invitation to travel. Tristan Ra, the first artist to work at Carla Bayle in the ’80s, created a large fresco just above the nave. On either side of the walls, paintings by local artists complete the picture.

A city full of history

The Musée Pierre-Bayle, nestled in the picturesque village of Carla-Bayle, is a cultural nugget not to be missed. As you enter its exhibition rooms, you’ll plunge into the fascinating world of Pierre Bayle, the famous 17th-century Enlightenment philosopher. His fascinating life and revolutionary ideas will captivate you.

When you visit this museum, you’ll discover the depth of Bayle’s thought and the intellectual legacy he left us, still relevant today.

My little plus: With Loïc (11) and Jules (8) our outings to the Lac du Carla-Bayle allow us to enjoy the great outdoors just a stone’s throw from home and in any season!

Swimming, fishing, walking and running, it’s the perfect spot at any age.

In the summertime at Carla-Bayle, artists’ galleries open like colorful windows on creativity. As you stroll through these picturesque galleries, you’ll discover a plethora of contemporary artworks, vibrant paintings and captivating sculptures. These spaces of artistic expression are the ideal rendezvous for art lovers in search of inspiration and unique artistic encounters.
