Description
The Pierre Bayle Museum, located in the heart of the village of Carla Bayle, in the philosopher's birthplace, plunges you into the history of the 17th century and the philosophy of the Enlightenment.
The Maison Pierre Bayle, restored in keeping with the period architecture, traces the philosopher's life and thought, from his childhood in Carla-Bayle to his exile in Rotterdam. The museum focuses on Protestantism under Louis XIV and the intellectual legacy of Pierre Bayle, precursor of the Enlightenment. The tour includes the Protestant temple and the 17thᵉ century church. Guided tours in summer and by reservation for groups all year round.
